Making a difference in Physics teaching

The Institute of Physics in association with the Northern Ireland Department of Education, is seeking two part-time teacher network co-ordinators to support the teaching of physics in Northern Ireland. The co-ordinators will form part of a UK and Ireland wide team. Co-ordinators organise and co-ordinate local group activities and INSET, and help to forge better links between school sectors, and between schools and HE. They also act as a source of information about local initiatives and activities, and generally provide help and advice in response to requests. They will work closely with the Education and Library Boards STEM Regional Group. Most of the current Network Co-ordinators are practising and experienced physics teachers. They are paid and provided with a budget that enables them to run the relevant initiatives and activities.

Application is by letter and CV. The letter should outline how you envisage running a successful local network. Further details about the network are available using the Physics Teacher Network link above or from gary.williams@iop.org which is also where applications should be sent.

Close of applications Friday 2nd Oct 2009
