Each year the Institute of Physics in Ireland awards a silver medal to the student in first place in the Leaving Certificate and Northern Ireland A Level examinations.
IOP silver medals for first place in 2008 Leaving Certificate and GCE A-Level
The IOP award for the highest level of achievement in physics in the 2008 Leaving Certificate physics examination was shared between three students: Paul Fitzgerald from Christian Brothers College in Cork, James Long from the Crescent College Comprehensive in Limerick and Fionnuala Connolly from the Dominican College in Galway. These medals were presented at ceremonies at their local Universities.
The award for the highest level of achievement in physics in the GCE A-Levels 2008 is to Matthew Nicholl of Foyle and Londonderry College.
